You’ll find a great deal of movie memorabilia available online – posters and photographs and theater cards that come from the entire history of the movies. With the wealth of materials available, it’s far too easy to grab a poster here and a photograph there and end up with a mishmash of memorabilia and collectibles rather than a decorating scheme or a collection. If you want to create an ambience in your home viewing room, you need to start with a plan that showcases prized pieces of memorabilia.
Choose a Genre to Highlight
Are you a science fiction buff? Do you love the glamour and glitz of the movie classics? Do adventure movies make you yearn for sea spray in your face and the scent of tomb dust in your nostrils? Build a collection of movie memorabilia around your favorite genre.
Science Fiction Movie Memorabilia
For the science fiction buff, there are Star Wars and Star Trek movie posters, as well as framed collages that include photos, theater cards and autographed photos of the stars of such movies as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Avatar.
Romance and Romantic Comedies
Pay homage to the witty dialogue and undercurrent of attraction between such famous pairings as Tracy and Hepburn, Hepburn and Bogart and Harry and Sally, or sink into the lush romance of the Civil War South world of Gone with the Wind. Classic movie posters in specially designed frames and collages that include signed movie posters and photos are ideal wall art and décor for your home theater room.
Series That Transcend Time
Some of the most lavish and highly awaited films of all time are parts of series, such as the wildly popular Harry Potter series. Signed and framed movie posters from the various Harry Potter movies are destined to become the collectibles of the future. If Hogwarts isn’t quite your cup of tea, there’s The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings.
If you’re decorating a home movie theater or family room, take a look at the many choices and options for wall art and décor based on movie memorabilia to create the perfect ambiance for movie viewing.
The first assumption I'm going to make, however is that you have a projector with which to play your movie reel on. Because, without that you won't be able to even view them. You're also going to need a video camera to record the projected image on. This can be any modern video camera, tape if that's all you've got but digital would save yourself a step later on.
