Historical Memorabilia

Titanic Memorabilia

If you’re a history junkie, we have all the good stuff. Titanic sinking may have happened a whopping 102 years ago, but thanks to James Cameron, Titanic will always be fresh in our minds.

A Survivor Autograph

If you’d like to get a piece of Titanic history for yourself, we have an amazing collectible: an autograph of a Titanic Survivor.

We have a photo of the Titanic authentically signed by the late Millvina Dean (the youngest survivor of the Titanic). It is framed and includes an authentic used Titanic stock certificate.

Millvina Dean was only two months old when she was on board the Titanic, and passed away in 2009. It’d be a unique collectible to have!

World Cup Final Recap as Germany Wins Title

It’s all over!  The 2014 World Cup ended after extra time on Sunday as Germany’s Mario Gotze took down a tasty cross and smashed it into the far corner, making the breakthrough, which would prove to hold for the remainder of the mach.  While it was a very even match and could have certainly gone either way given the number of close chances between the sides, it would be the Germans’ day while the nearby country of Argentina and a pained Lionel Messi rued a tough way to lose the tournament.

But Germany had been the best team at the World Cup by a wide margin.  Their 7-1 demolition of the hosts Brazil proved that, as did other strong performances against teams like Portugal and France.  Top to bottom throughout the squad they were by far the strongest team.  Manuel Neuer was probably the best goalie, although he was rarely called into action.  The defensive line featured German heroes like Mats Hummels and Philipp Lahm while tough midfielders like Bastian Schweinsteiger kept opponents limited in chances.  Up front an array of options ranging from Thomas Muller to the World Cup goals record holder Miroslav Klose, to Mesut Ozil, and to impact-making substitutes like Andre Schurrle and Gotze meant that the Germans would always be keeping their opponents on their back feet.

In essence, the team was perfect.  They just needed to perform up to their level.  Even though they had a few shaky moments in the final against Argentina, and Messi made some strong runs into their penalty area, the damage was greatly limited and the Argentineans were presented just a handful of chances, all of which they failed to take.  Germany dominated this game just like every other one they played in this tournament and fully deserved the win.

What was most impressive to me was how the team dealt with the loss of Sami Khedira, who was lost to injury just prior to the kickoff.  Expected to be a key figure in slowing down Messi, his loss could have been the Achilles Heel for Germany.  But Schweinsteiger took on the defensive midfield role and played it perfectly.  By the end of the match he looked like a warrior coming home from battle!  He had grass marks all over his jersey, he had been the recipient of various harsh challenges by the South Americans, and even had blood streaming down his face after one nasty blow he received.  Watching him continue to fight minute after minute after continued harsh challenges shows the fight and passion that can only come from a game of this magnitude.  It was nice to see the player well rewarded for his efforts, and to me he was the man of the match!

The Germany national team showed us all why they are the master class of the world.  Their squad was far more talented and deep than any other, and it was no surprise that they are now the 2014 World Cup Champions!

2014 World Cup

Will the Germany Steamroller Continue through Argentina in the 2014 World Cup Final?

The beautiful celebration and glory of the Brazilian World Cup came to a frightening end on Tuesday as Germany thumped the home nation 7-1.  It was an entirely dominating performance against one of the world’s best teams, who many had expected to lift the cup.  Having also beaten Portugal 4-0 at this tournament, we can say for sure that the Germans have been the most powerful team.  But looking ahead, the Germans will face the best defense they have seen so far, and will have to counter against the world’s finest footballer, Lionel Messi.  Will the Germany romp continue or will Argentina have the final hurrah in the 2014 World Cup final?

Despite the fact that most experts now predict a German victory I am going to present something of a counter-argument.  Germany got very lucky in this World Cup in that they played most of their top opponents who were greatly wounded.

Against Portugal, they played against an injured CristianoRonaldo.  Lacking his usual power and pace, the Portuguese then imploded by means of a Pepe red card.  Another major force Germany encountered along the way was France, who played without their star player Frank Ribery.  Ribery plays with much of the German team at Bayern Munich and certainly could have held the key in battling his club teammates.  And of course, we must add an asterisk to the Brazil game highlighting the loss of Neymar, the next great Brazilian striker.  But another missing player was also key.  Defender and team captain Thiago Silva was missing from the game due to yellow card accumulation.  Thus, Brazil was without two of their best players on either end of the pitch.

And because of this advantage in facing top opponents without their best players at full strength, I think Germany has actually had a pretty easy road to the World Cup final.  However, that well has run dry because up next is Argentina, and Messi will certainly be playing.

Only a handful of players are on the same level as Messi.  Neymar, Ribery, and Ronaldo (when healthy) are among the few true difference makers in soccer.  At this World Cup, Germany hasn’t yet faced such an opponent.  Another concern for the Germans is that Argentina has a stiff defense that hasn’t conceded a single goal since the knockout rounds began against decent offensive teams like the Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland, who were all at full strength.

But Germany hasn’t chosen the lineups of their opponents and their displays at the 2014 World Cup have been most impressive.  Their roster oozes of talent from top to bottom where stars like Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Philipp Lahm, and Mesut Ozil exert their will over opponents time and time again.  Needless to say, this mouth-watering matchup is completely up for grabs.  Yes, an Argentinean victory would help Messi achieve his dreams and rightfully become the legend he so covets to be, but you could say the same of half the German squad, who’s club and personal achievements still haven’t been matched with a World Cup title.

So who will win this clash of super power soccer titans?  I think Argentina will take the 2014 World Cup in a 3-2 thriller, led by some wondrous Lionel Messi moments!

3 of the Most Expensive Movies Ever Made

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s EndDisney went all out for the third POC movie, dropping $332 million dollars on the film. One can only wonder how much went towards Johnny Depp’s eyeliner.

Titanic Somehow James Cameron was able to convince the producers to give him $286 million dollars to make Titanic, and with the way the movie cleaned up at the Oscars, he can probably ask for more.

Spiderman 3 Hoping to create the same magic as Titanic ten years later, Spiderman 3 also cost $286 million to make. Unfortunately, the movie did not have the same amount of success.

USA Through in World Cup But Challenge Lies Ahead

While America can breath a collective sigh of relief following their progression through to the knockout rounds of the World Cup (despite losing 1-0 to Germany), the reality is that the hard work will have just begun.  At this point of the proceedings all the lesser sides have been eliminated, and every opponent lying ahead has won games and found success in Brazil.  While questions will surely remain as to how far the USA can go and if they can keep the dream alive, for now the reality is that America remains in the World Cup, and they will go as far as the players can take them!

Despite the defeat, the USA was competitive and could have even snatched a draw against a vastly superior team.  Germany sent in wave after wave of attack throughout the game but the Americans repelled each assault very well.  Omar Gonzalez, Jermaine Jones, and Tim Howard all played great in the match, but ultimately the squad was undone by a fantastic strike from Thomas Muller.  Due to the result in the Ghana vs. Portugal game, the USA would prevail even with the loss.

But while we can stand proud and tall having emerged from the “Group of Death” with a win over Ghana and a tie with Portugal, the road ahead is going to take an altogether higher level of display than what we’ve seen so far from America.

First up is Belgium, who is actually a pretty favorable opponent for the USA.  While they have one of the most talented rosters on paper, they are quite young and inexperienced.  In their 3 victories at the World Cup, Belgium has looked quite a bit lackadaisical, though each match finished with a flash of pure individual talent that got them their wins.  They showed especially strong character today in overcoming a red card to defeat South Korea while playing a man down.  Also, they defend strongly and don’t give up many chances.  For America to win they will have to fight tooth and nail to the end.

But as is the nature of a World Cup, the path ahead will only become more challenging should the USA prevail.  The likeliest of roads through to a title would include Argentina, the Netherlands, and then Brazil in the final.  America would have to win each match to claim the 2014 World Cup!  Realistically, there is no hope…

But while the team remains alive, USA fans can always hope and dream.  Additionally, this current matchup with Belgium presents the perfect game in which to make a statement.  While the Belgians are overloaded with young stars like Eden Hazard, Marouane Fellaini, and Vincent Kompany, they don’t seem to have nearly as much fighting spirit as do the Americans.  While superior raw talent has been their savior in each group stage match, they haven’t really clicked into top gear, which I suppose is to be expected for a side at their first World Cup since 2002.  The USA could pounce on this opportunity and really make their mark at this tournament.

While progressing through the tournament’s toughest group surely will mark Brazil 2014 as a successful endeavor, if the team can start winning games in the knockout rounds, this run can be seen as a tremendous achievement, one that silences all doubt over the team’s merits, and fully kicks the sport into mainstream popularity within America!  The World Cup is where soccer legends like  Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé) are made, and the current USA players have taken their first crucial step in the pursuit of soccer immortality!

Sorting Through All the Varying Soccer Outcomes of USA vs. Germany

When the USA Soccer Team squares off with Germany on Thursday at the 2014 World Cup for their final group stage match, there are countless things that can happen, and a lot also depends upon the other game in the teams’ group between Portugal and Ghana.  While America has done very well in their first 2 games in Brazil, if they lose this one they may well be out of the tournament.  Meanwhile, a glorious performance and victory could result in America progressing through this “group of death” as winners, earning a more favorable matchup for the second round of the proceedings.  But we must also remember that the Germans are amongst the top contenders at the tournament and will be the stiffest test yet for America.

Another problem for our hopes in this game is that Germany will want to win.  In a nightmare scenario for them, should they fall to the USA even they may face elimination from the World Cup!  That prospect alone should mean that they will come out firing, utilizing all the skills of Philip Lahm, Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller, and Miroslav Klose to put us to bed.  And while a defeat wouldn’t mean the certain end for the USA, if Ghana wins the game by Portugal goal difference will decide who goes through.  This means that despite our fantastic opening victory against Ghana, they might just progress over us.  Similarly, if Portugal wins by a wide margin and the USA loses by several or more goals, they could catch us on goal differential as well, though the advantage by America bodes well in that instance given Portugal’s 4-0 loss to Germany in their opening fixture.

And this brings us to the issue of draws and its benefits to our team.  Should Portugal and Ghana tie, they would both be eliminated and the USA and Germany would both go through.  And more importantly for the USA, should we draw against Germany both teams would progress, with Germany as group winners.  This prospect does suit both teams reasonably well and has brought up the issue that the teams might play for the tie.  Such a conspiracy has drawn immense speculation considering USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann’s ties to Germany.  A former World Cup winning striker for Germany, Klinsmann managed his home country in the 2006 tournament and now leads the American team.  He is close to the entire German national team and staff and shares their nationality!

Most analysts would question the ethics of such a mutual decision between Germany and America to draw, while players on both teams have moved to denounce any such decisions.  In their minds this is a match like any other and will be played to the highest degree of sportsmanship and honest play.  But, if the game is close in the 85th minute and the result beckons warmly for either Portugal or Ghana, what will happen?  Will someone on Germany let in a very soft goal?  Will the players spend the last 5 minutes passing the ball about to ensure the tie?

As strange as this scenario appears to be, it has actually happened in the past and is one of the few imperfections in an otherwise wonderfully organized competition.  Should the result not go the way of either Portugal or Ghana, you’d better believe they will be clamoring about the injustice, even if Germany and the USA play fair to a hard-fought draw.  It’s a no-win situation for the Americans, and I feel they need to accept that fact and hope that the Germans gift us a draw.  For as tough and competitive as our group seems to be, Germany is a team on another level and could certainly have their way with us if they want.  Hopefully, seeing Klinsmann on our sideline will touch their softer side and give us a fighting hope of progression.  The questions will linger through the game and into the post-match discussions, but let’s just hope that whatever transpires between the USA and Germany will result in America moving on to the round of 16!

Some Great Three Stooges Memorabilia & Autographs!

Are you a huge Three Stooges fan? Well, we've scoured the Internet for some of the best Stooges Memorabilia, including autographs and more. Whether you're a movie memorabilia collector or just love watching their shows, you're going to like what we've dug up around the Internet. When it comes to the Three Stooges, the web has made it easier for collectors to come together to buy, sell and trade all different kinds of related memorabilia.

Best Three Stooges Memorabilia

Here's a closer look at some specific memorabilia from the Three Stooges movies and shorts.
Moe Howard’s Columbia Pictures ID - While the bidding for this item closed last year, it's interesting to check it out online. As mentioned, many things become collectible just because they're associated with a person.
Script Outline - Did you know Moe actually helped write some of the sketches? One piece of valuable Three Stooges memorabilia is a very rare outline written (in hand) by Moe Howard. The ideas are for the 1934 short ”Punch Drunks” - which is a classic today.
Handwritten Dedication Page For His Autobiography - Moe also wrote a really nice autobiography. The dedication page read, "Dedication / I dedicate this book to my wonderful wife who had the confidence in my ability to write a book. And to my wonderful Daughter with out whose help there never would have been a book to write. God bless them Both." Imagine the lucky fan who got that when it was up for sale last year!
Moe Howard’s Personally Owned Gold Wristwatch - Pieces that a celebrity actually wore have always been good for collectors, and Moe's watch is no different. The last time it was up for sale, it went for over $6,000. We're not sure if it still told time or not at the time of the sale.
Movie Posters - These aren't as personal, but they're still really valuable and a ton of fun to collect if you're a fan of the Three Stooges - old or new. You can get reproductions, of course, but the really valuable ones are going to be the ones from when the movies and shorts first came out. Remember - the higher the quality the more they're worth!
What would the Stooges think about SGW ? This is a serious question! As they're known for going face down in the turf, I'm sure they'd prefer real grass.  In all seriousness, when it comes to the Three Stooges, people will collect almost anything as long as it's related to them in one way or another. This is good news for fans of the characters - even the latest movie version - as well as serious collectors who like to invest to make big money.

Keeping Up with Your Kids' Likes: Soccer Autographed Sports Memorabilia and Posters

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and it’s rapidly gaining popularity in the USA as well. As more and more kids join the local soccer teams, more and more dads are tuning into the World Cup and following international soccer stars. If your knowledge of soccer stars is limited to Pele, you may need to brush up on your futbol knowledge before you start shopping for autographed sports memorabilia gifts for your kids. These are some of the most popular soccer celebrity autographs and personalities to help you pick the best gifts for your family, friends – or your own personal collection.
Pele
Just as every baseball card collector dreams of owning a baseball or glove autographed by Mickey Mantle, Pele’s signature is still among the most sought in the world of soccer. The three-time World Cup champion was the original soccer ambassador to the world. Among the most wanted Pele sport collectible items are signed action photos – particularly the “Bicycle Kick” photo from the 1970 World Cup which is essentially the soccer world’s equivalent of Bobby Orr’s iconic hockey photo – also taken in 1970. If you’re looking for something even more impressive, you can sometimes find a #10 Brazil framed and autographed jersey, worn by Pele as he took the field for his team in the 1970 World Cup game.
Beckham
David Beckham is easily the most decorated – and photographed – soccer players of all time. While he began his career playing for Manchester United, Beckham has gone on to play for Madrid, Milan and the LA Galaxy. His list of awards and trophies would take up several paragraphs. Needless to say, sport memorabilia autographed by Beckham is quite popular – but it’s also quite reasonably priced. If you’re not sure which player to collect, Beckham is a good starting point, if for no other reason than that he is so very loved throughout the world.
Ronaldo
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is a soccer Cinderella story. His skills with a soccer ball started attracting attention by the time he was 10, was playing for his neighborhood club in Madeira, Portugal by the time he was 16, and signed with Manchester United by the time he was 18, scoring one of the priciest transfer fees ever for an adolescent. But Ronaldo’s popularity is about more than his skills. His good looks, superb physique and open friendliness have made him a favorite on the World Cup circuit with both players and fans.
If you’re looking for a great deal in sport collectibles, autographed sports memorabilia related to soccer, including autographed jerseys, photographs and team badges, are still reasonably priced but growing in popularity.

Home Theater Décor – Tips for Decorating with Movie Memorabilia

While the technology may be the center and the brain of your new home theater, the décor you choose is its heart and soul. Movie memorabilia like celebrity autographs, movie posters and other movie collectibles are a great starting point or finishing touches for your home theater décor .The specific items you choose – and the way you arrange and display them – can give your new home theater exactly the look and feel you want. These tips can help you choose and arrange your favorite Hollywood memorabilia to make your home theater feel complete.
Get Thematic
The best collections and displays of memorabilia center around a specific theme, and that theme can define the rest of your home theater décor – or you could approach it from the opposite direction by choosing movie posters and Hollywood memorabilia that suits the rest of your décor. If you’ve outfitted your room with sleek, futuristic furniture and lots of angles and planes, for example, complete the look with Star Trek or The Matrix movie posters. If your room has a more rustic and comfortable feel, consider Western-themed décor, such as TV show posters from such classics as Bonanza.
Be Off the Wall
Posters are just one type of movie memorabilia to consider. If you shop around, you’ll find some beautifully assembled collections of items from your favorite movies as well as original theater posters cardboard lobby cutouts to stand on your floor or hang from the ceiling. When choosing pieces for your home theater décor make sure you consider all your options for displaying your collectibles.
Define Your Budget
You’ve probably seen headline stories about pieces of movie memorabilia bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction. Don’t let that scare you off. In fact, there’s a huge market for entertainment memorabilia of all kinds, and entertainment collectibles that fall into every price range imaginable. Figure out how much you’re willing to spend overall and per piece so that you can start planning how to arrange your acquisitions in the room.
Know What You’re Buying
There are many factors that affect the asking price for a piece of memorabilia. They include rarity, condition and authenticity, as well as provenance and type of item. A vintage TV show poster won’t command the same price as an authentic lobby card or theater poster, and celebrity autographs can multiply the value of a piece of movie memorabilia by several orders of magnitude. Before you make a purchase, be sure you know exactly what you’re buying so you don’t end up overpaying or being disappointed when your purchase arrives.

Sports Memorabilia for Dad for Fathers Day

Fathers Day never has to throw you for a loop again if your dad is a sports buff—not when you have access to a whole world of sport memorabilia from which to choose a gift for him. Whatever sport he fancies, you’ll find a wide variety of mementos and memorabilia that he’ll appreciate and enjoy. If you’re looking for gift ideas for Fathers Day, consider one of these pieces of sports history that are guaranteed to make him a happy pappy.

Baseball Fans

Skip the cheesy bar signs and clocks in his favorite team colors. Instead, go for a classy, classic piece of memorabilia that speaks to the history of America’s favorite sport. Imagine dad’s face when he opens his gift on Fathers Day morning and finds a framed collage that includes a baseball signed by none other than Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax or Ted Williams. If he’s a BoSox fan, put a grin on his face with a collage display that includes a signed photo of the Bambino himself on one side, a photo of the 2004 World Series winning Red Sox and between them, Babe Ruth’s signed contract. So much for the Babe’s curse!

Basketball Fans

From Bob Cousy to Yao Ming, Bill Russell to Lebron James, you’ll find basketball memorabilia to delight any diehard b-ball fan. Framed, autographed photos are just one of the many types of mementos that your basketball-loving dad will put up on his wall. You can be sure he’ll save a special place above the bar for a signed, framed game shirt worn by Yao Ming, Larry Bird or LeBron James.

Football Fans

Your favorite armchair quarterback deserves something special for all those Sunday afternoons he’s spent rooting for the home team. How about a game jersey from a football quarterback who’s shown the same persistence in his yearly comeback – Bret Favre? Maybe he’d rather celebrate the monumental Saints win in Super Bowl XLIV with a Drew Brees signed Super Bowl display that includes replica tickets of each of the last 44 Super Bowls, or a collage featuring Peyton and Eli Manning – whatever his favorite team or player, you’ll find the perfect piece of sports memorabilia to spark his memory.

Even if Dad’s not a fan of the Big Three American sports, you’ll find lots of memorabilia gifts to please him. Consider a framed photo of the Old Course at St. Andrews for your golfing dad, an autographed collage featuring Lance Armstrong for the dad that bikes or a Kentucky Derby card set if your dad breaks out the mint juleps for the first weekend in May. If you’re not sure what to get your sports-loving dad for Fathers Day this year, spend some time checking out the many different kinds of sports memorabilia available online.

Tips for Collecting Movie Memorabilia

Whether you adore the cinema or have inherited a collection of movie posters and celebrity autographs, collecting movie memorabilia can be both fun and profitable. The wide world of movie memorabilia includes everything from movie posters to Oscar statuettes, and has engaged thousands of collectors. Unfortunately, it also has attracted more than its share of con artists and swindlers. If you’re going to be a savvy shopper with a valuable collection, it’s important to follow some simple advice from experienced collectors of Hollywood memorabilia.
Focus
It’s easy to get distracted when you’re collecting items in such a wide field, but the most valuable collections – and those that are the most fun to pursue – are those that have a strong focus. Your focus can be on a particular genre of film, a particular franchise, a specific actor or a type of collectible, but the focus will help you build a meaningful collection. Keep in mind that the popularity of a film doesn’t necessary translate into value – but value isn’t the only reason for collecting movie memorabilia. If you love Jack Sparrow, you’ll want a Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest to fill out your collection of Pirates movie posters.
Check the Signatures
Old time Hollywood autographs are notorious for being fakes – not so much because of unscrupulous sellers and forgers, but because it was typical for the film industry to employ secretaries for the specific purpose of signing “celebrity” autographs. Modern movie star autographs are more likely to have been signed by the star. Even so, it’s always a good idea to have the signature authenticated by an expert.
More than a Certificate of Authenticity
While it’s nice to have a Certificate of Authenticity, the COA is only as good as the certifying authority. If you’re buying from a dealer, research his company’s reputation before buying any movie memorabilia, and avoid those dealers with a poor reputation. In addition, ask about the item’s provenance, or history. Items that include a letter from an expert or a list of previous owners will always have more value than those that have nothing but a “Certificate of Authenticity.”
Avoid Restoration
If you get your hands on a genuine Star Wars poster or James Bond poster in less than pristine condition, don’t try to restore it or get it restored. Restoration used to be popular, particularly where movie posters are concerned. These days, collectors are more interested in authenticity, including all the blemishes the piece of movie memorabilia may have acquired over the years. Prevent further damage with good framing and storage, but don’t attempt any restoration.
Movie memorabilia is a popular hobby, and shows like “Storage Hunters” and “Storage Wars” are making it even more popular. If you decide you want to take up collecting, take precautions to make sure everything you buy is authentic.

Celebrity Autographs: The Heart and Soul of Sports and Movie Memorabilia

Celebrity autographs and autographed photos have long been a staple in the area of movie memorabilia and autographed sports memorabilia. Signed photos, tickets, sports equipment and movie props are – and have always been – among the most popular collectibles, and that hasn’t changed at all over the years. An original Star Wars poster is a prized piece of Hollywood memorabilia. An original Star Wars poster signed by Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford or Mark Hamill – or better yet, all three – is far more desirable and worth much more. Among collectors of sports memorabilia, the Holy Grail is a ball actually used in a game and signed by a sports hero that handled that ball. In short, an authenticated autograph makes everything so much better.
The Value of Celebrity Autographs
But just how much does that signature add to the value of a piece of memorabilia? In a 2012 episode, “Storage Wars” regular Barry Weiss (“The Collector”) scores a set of Ludwig drums in a storage locker. He takes them to Stewart Copeland of Police fame to have them evaluated. Copeland tells him he can probably sell the entire kit for about $1,000. Weiss whips out a pen and, with a wink, tells Copeland that he knows how he can make them worth a whole lot more. With Copeland’s signature on each piece of the kit, Weiss figures he can triple the value, at least. And, considering the drum kit was featured in an episode of the popular show, you can figure that it would fetch considerably more if it came up at auction.
The Most Popular Autographed Sports Memorabilia
The sport memorabilia industry has come a long way since the days your grandfather waited outside the stadium for his favorite sports hero clutching a treasured trading card. Today, you’ll find sports celebrity autographs on a variety of sports-related equipment, and those celebrity signing events put a lot of cash into the pockets of the sports franchises. It also means that it’s far easier to score autographed sports memorabilia connected to your favorite sports stars. You’ll find autographed game jerseys – framed and in displays – among football memorabilia and basketball memorabilia, autographed baseballs for baseball memorabilia enthusiasts and signed hockey sticks for those who collect hockey memorabilia.
Whether you’re looking for ideas for a man cave, home theater décor or simply collect memorabilia because you love sports or movies, celebrity autographs are among the most popular types of movie memorabilia and autographed sports memorabilia on the market.

Five Ways to Use Movie Memorabilia and Autographed Sports Memorabilia in Your Home

You didn’t even know you were looking for it, but there it is – an absolutely stunning display of movie memorabilia that you didn’t know you wanted until you saw it. It may be that vintage Star Wars poster or a display of autographed sports memorabilia – including baseballs signed by Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. Whatever it is, now that you’ve seen it, you just have to have it. The only question is where you should put it when you get it home. No worries! There are all sorts of ways to fit movie memorabilia and autographed sports memorabilia into your home décor.
Game Room Décor
The most obvious place to display autographed sports memorabilia is in your game room. No matter your favorite sport, you’re bound to find sports memorabilia connected with it. You can hang framed celebrity autographs in a spot of honor on the wall or place a display of hockey memorabilia behind the – what else – air hockey table. You’ll even find horse racing memorabilia, such as a signed Secretariat photo, that you can hang behind the bar to lend the place a little extra class.
Ideas for a Man Cave
Looking for ways to decorate that man cave? Autographed sports memorabilia totally fills the bill. Depending on the items you choose, you can display your sport memorabilia in frames or in free-standing cases – lighted, of course. Look for unique items of basketball memorabilia, baseball memorabilia and football memorabilia to give your man room that unmistakably masculine feel.
Home Theater Décor

Beyond Movie Memorabilia and Autographed Sports Memorabilia

Whether you’re looking for unusual memorabilia collectibles or searching for unusual ideas for a man cave, there’s a whole world of collectible items beyond the standard movie memorabilia and autographed sports memorabilia collections. Autographed posters from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest are great home theater décor, certainly, and when it comes to collectibles, sports memorabilia is definitely popular, but there are other types of entertainment collectibles that also make excellent choices when you’re looking for collectible home décor. Here are just a few ideas beyond the typical that you might incorporate into your own decorating schemes.
Horse Photos
When people think of sports memorabilia, they tend to gravitate toward baseball memorabilia, such as baseball cards, or basketball memorabilia, like autographed jerseys and basketballs. There are other sporting events that aren’t quite as visible, but still have a heavy following, such as horse racing. Photographs of Triple Crown winners are always popular collectibles, with Secretariat photos leading the way. You can even get celebrity autographs with your horse racing memorabilia – the most sought after horse photos are those signed by the jockey that rode the horse to victory.
Hollywood Memorabilia
The longest-running and most popular movie franchises have spawned some of the most popular movie memorabilia available. From a signed James Bond poster featuring the autographs of various actors who have portrayed the famous international spy to posters from the LOTR trilogy or a signed Star Wars poster, there are hundreds of choices to display your love of Hollywood. Beyond movie posters, however, you can look for home theater décor that includes celebrity autographs on collectibles or on their own photographs and on theater bills and other collectibles that were used on movie sets. The most popular movie memorabilia often includes autographed photographs with items that were used on set or with movie posters advertising LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and other popular movies.
Political Memorabilia
For some people, nothing is more entertaining than the world of politics, and there’s no doubt that our presidents are among the biggest celebrities on the world stage. Framed presidential memorabilia seldom commands the high prices realized by movie memorabilia and autographed sports memorabilia – which often makes political memorabilia a great entry point for beginning collectors. From framed, autographed photos of presidents to collections of campaign buttons in shadow box frames, presidential and political memorabilia can be a hot ticket item at auctions – and unusual accents in your home décor.
Choosing movie memorabilia, autographed sports memorabilia and other types of memorabilia for your home is easier when you rely on a trusted dealer. Always purchase your collectibles from a company you can trust to verify everything they sell.
